Key aspects of the thesis Contextualization: The study begins under global, national Ecuador and local Babahoyo contexts of disinformation. It highlights the challenges posed by the rapid spread of false information through digital platforms and the dual role of AI in both creating and combating it. Problem statement: This thesis questions whether AI can restore credibility in digital news or whether its misuse could further damage ethical journalism. The potential of AI to generate sophisticated false content is recognized. The main objective is to determine the role of AI in mitigating disinformation, focusing on its ability to improve the accuracy and creativity of news. The methodology employs a qualitative, non-experimental and cross-sectional design using:  Document analysis of relevant publications and news from 8 digital media outlets in Babahoyo.  Interviews with journalists and experts on the use of AI in journalism.  Observations of media coverage and narrative dynamics.es_ES

dc.description.abstractEsta investigación proporciona un análisis integral del potencial de la IA para mejorar el periodismo, al tiempo que reconoce los desafíos éticos y prácticos asociados específicamente en el contexto de Babahoyo, Ecuador. Aspectos clave de la tesis Contextualización: El estudio comienza bajo contextos globales, nacional Ecuador y local Babahoyo de la desinformación. Destaca los desafíos que plantea la rápida propagación de información falsa a través de plataformas digitales y doble papel de la IA tanto en creación como en la lucha contra ella. Planteamiento del problema: Esta tesis cuestiona si la IA puede restaurar la credibilidad en las noticias digitales o si su mal uso podría dañar aún más el periodismo ético. Se reconoce el potencial de la IA para generar contenido falso sofisticado. El Objetivo principal es determinar el papel de la IA en la mitigación de la desinformación, centrándose en su capacidad para mejorar la precisión y la creatividad de las noticias. La metodología se emplea un diseño cualitativo, no experimental y transversal utilizando:  Análisis de documentos de publicaciones y noticias relevantes de 8 medios digitales de Babahoyo.  Entrevistas a periodistas y expertos sobre el uso de la IA en el periodismo.  Observaciones de la cobertura mediática y la dinámica narrativa.es_ES
