dc.description | This study analyzes the impact of artificial intelligence on traditional media in Babahoyo, Ecuador. The research seeks to explore how AI can be a strategic tool to support these media in the face of digital competition. It evaluates its influence on the quality and efficiency of news production and its interaction with the public; it also examines ethical challenges such as guaranteeing veracity and preserving editorial autonomy. The study combines quantitative and qualitative methods including surveys to measure public perception of the use of AI in local media as well as interviews with journalists to understand its practical implementation. The goal is to provide actionable insights to help optimize communication strategies and ensure accuracy in journalistic work. Importantly, this research will also provide theoretical foundations to guide traditional media in adopting the different technologies that are at the forefront. And, by understanding how the citizens of Babahoyo perceive the use of artificial intelligence in the processes of writing and editing in the traditional media, it will be verified if it is really advantageous to adopt AI in these institutions. | es_ES |

dc.description.abstract | Este estudio analiza el impacto de la inteligencia artificial en los medios tradicionales de Babahoyo, Ecuador. La investigación explora como la IA puede ser una herramienta estratégica para apoyar a estos medios frente a la competencia digital. Se evalúa su influencia en la calidad y eficiencia de la producción de noticias y su interacción con el público; además se examinan los desafíos éticos como garantizar la veracidad y preservar la autonomía editorial. El estudio combina métodos cuantitativos y cualitativos incluyendo encuestas para medir la percepción pública sobre el uso de la IA en los medios locales así como entrevistas con periodistas para comprender su implementación práctica. El objetivo es proporcionar conocimientos aplicables que ayuden a optimizar las estrategias comunicativas y garantizar la veracidad en los trabajos periodísticos. Cabe recalcar, que esta investigación también proporcionará bases teóricas que sirvan de guía para los medios tradicionales en la adopción de las diferentes tecnologias que estan en vanguardia.
