Swine Erysipelas, a pathology caused by Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, is a disease that impacts the profitability of swine producers due to its high morbidity and mortality; the purpose of this bibliographic research work is to describe the effects of penicillin in Large White pigs in growth stage for the treatment of this disease. During the analysis of the information, the importance of swine production at national level, the life cycle of the bacterium (Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae), the risk factors, the protocol for the safe use of penicillin in growing pigs were determined. The results indicate that penicillin is effective in reducing acute symptoms, but its prolonged use can generate bacterial resistance and adverse effects; it should be noted that, in order to administer penicillin, the animals body weight should be evaluated; it is suggested between 20 and 30 thousand IU per kilo in growing pigs; a correct application contributes to minimize risks. In addition, the research highlights the importance of implementing complementary strategies such as vaccination and environmental management to control the disease. In conclusion, a correct diagnosis and management of the disease will contribute to the optimization of penicillin use, reducing potential losses.es_ES
