Carrying out recreational activities at the initial level is essential because thanks to them, children can have optimal intellectual and physical development; Furthermore, in the educational context they facilitate the teaching-learning process. Through play and fun, children can express their emotions and significantly improve the educational process. Reason why, the main objective of this case study is to determine the recreational activities and their influence on the development of gross motor skills in children of sublevel II in the “Ciudad de Ventanas” Educational Unit, Ventanas Canton, Province of Los Rivers. Therefore, it was necessary to develop a study with a non-experimental design and a mixed approach. Likewise, it was necessary to use three types of research: documentary, descriptive and field. The population was made up of 82 individuals, including students, teachers and parents. To collect information, a survey directed at educators and representatives and an observation of the infants was used as a technique, for which it was necessary to use a questionnaire of questions and an observation sheet as an instrument. The results of the study determine that there is a high percentage of students who have difficulties in their gross motor skills, due to the fact that they cannot execute movements of their legs properly. The conclusions indicate that among the factors that influence the development of the infant's gross motor skills, it was determined that the lack of physical activities is one of the most common.es_ES
