dc.description | Cocoa production is of great economic importance both for the country when it comes to exports, as it is one of Ecuador's export commodities. Cocoa also benefits small and medium-sized producers dedicated to cocoa cultivation. The general objective is to characterize a cocoa production system in the Vinces canton, Los Ríos province. The methodology used in this research work was based on surveys conducted in the Antonio Sotomayor parish of the Vinces canton in four precincts, with a population of 270 producers. Using the Scheaffer formula, a sample of 73 producers was determined, within which social, economic, and environmental variables were evaluated. The results obtained in this research work were in the social aspect where the age of the producers was determined, who are mostly older people, young people are no longer dedicated to this crop, regarding the environmental area the number of hectares was counted, revealing that all producers have less than five hectares but that they are their own and in the environmental area the most used agrochemicals are soil fertilizers and they work with associated crops apart from cocoa they have plantains and corn. The limitations faced by producers are the infestations of pests and diseases present in their crops. In conclusion, farmers require ongoing training so they can stay informed and know how to manage their crops in a more technical manner. | es_ES |

| es_ES |
