dc.description | The curricular integration project has the purpose of analyzing education and tourism sustainability to promote environmental awareness in students of the tourism major at the UTB (Technical University of Babahoyo). This purpose was complemented with specific objectives that include identifying the environmental knowledge of students, evaluating their waste management practices and proposing strategies that encourage their participation in environmental projects and community activities.
A descriptive methodology was carried out with a mixed approach that allows collecting both quantitative and qualitative data to evaluate the knowledge, practices and behavior of students that are related to sustainability. Exploratory and explanatory research is used to gain a precise understanding of the diverse perspectives of students and teachers specialized in sustainability.
The information collected in the research techniques applied to students and teachers allows us to evaluate the level of knowledge about sustainability that tourism students have, what waste management practices they carry out and what strategies teachers implement to promote environmental awareness in their students. Various challenges are identified to carry out a sustainable tourism system and improvements in academic training are proposed, relating them to the area of sustainability. | es_ES |

dc.description.abstract | El proyecto de integración curricular tiene la finalidad de analizar la educación y la sostenibilidad turística para promover la conciencia ambiental en los estudiantes de la carrera de turismo de la UTB (Universidad Técnica de Babahoyo), dicho propósito se complementó con objetivos específicos que incluyen identificar el conocimiento ambiental de los estudiantes, evaluar sus prácticas de gestión de residuos y proponer estrategias que fomenten su participación en proyectos ambientales y actividades comunitarias.
Se llevó a cabo una metodología descriptiva con enfoque mixto que permite recopilar datos tanto cuantitativos como cualitativos para evaluar el conocimiento, prácticas y comportamiento de los estudiantes que se relacionan con la sostenibilidad. Se utiliza la investigación exploratoria y explicativa para tener una comprensión precisa sobre las diversas perspectivas de estudiantes y de docentes especializados en sostenibilidad.
La información recolectada en las técnicas de investigación aplicadas a los estudiantes y docentes, permiten evaluar qué nivel de conocimiento sobre sostenibilidad tienen los estudiantes de turismo, qué prácticas de manejo de residuos llevan y qué estrategias los docentes implementan para fomentar la conciencia ambiental de sus alumnos. Se identificaron diversos desafíos para llevar a cabo un sistema turístico sostenible y se proponen mejoras en la formación académica relacionándolas con el área de sostenibilidad. | es_ES |
