dc.description | The present study focuses on the Samama Mumbes Wildlife Refuge, a protected area in Ecuador that preserves unique remnants of the Chocó Equatorial Forest. The general objective of the research was to establish sustainable tourism activities for the preservation of the Samama Mumbes natural area. To achieve this objective, a methodology was employed that included descriptive, exploratory, and correlational techniques, using interviews, surveys, and questionnaires directed at the local community and visitors. The results revealed a lack of consensus on the importance of long-term conservation and sustainability, although most respondents recognized the value of biodiversity and supported the sustainable use of the area's natural potential to benefit both the local community and the natural environment. The discussion of the results highlighted a significant gap between theory and community perception, underscoring the need to implement more effective awareness campaigns and sustainable management strategies. The study's conclusions indicated that to achieve effective preservation and promote sustainable tourism, it is essential to increase environmental awareness and education, develop sustainable management strategies, and promote active participation of the local community. Ultimately, it was concluded that sustainable tourism can be a valuable tool for both environmental conservation and local economic development, provided that appropriate measures are implemented and all relevant stakeholders are involved. This integrative and participatory approach is crucial to ensuring the long-term preservation of the Samama Mumbes Wildlife Refuge and maximizing its ecological and socioeconomic benefits. | es_ES |

| es_ES |
