The present experimental work dealt with the evaluation of the amylose content and milling quality of promising lines and commercial varieties of rice, in the area of Santa Lucía, province of Guayas, which was developed in the Grain Quality Laboratory of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of the Technical University of Babahoyo. In the research, the rice varieties were used: Boreal, SFL - 11 and two promising lines PxJ 17 and PxJ 37. The Completely Random experimental design was used with four treatments and four repetitions. The variables evaluated were submitted to the analysis of variance; using Tukey's significance test at 95% probability. The conclusions raised determined that all the lines and varieties obtained clean and dry grains; the highest percentage of shell corresponded to the SFL-11 and Boreal varieties; Promising Line 1 PxJ 17 obtained a higher percentage of whole and classified grain, while Promising Line 2 PxJ 37 reached higher values for white belly and high protein content; the Boreal variety obtained higher percentages of rice and dust and the amylose content was found in a higher percentage in the SFL-11 variety.es_ES
