dc.descriptionCocoa is of great importance in world trade, using it as a raw material to obtain various products of the food industry, in Ecuador, it represents one of the main items of the Ecuadorian agricultural sector, for this reason its participation in the generation of of employment, estimated to employ 5% of the country's economically active population and 15% of the rural EAP, constituting a fundamental basis of the country's family economy. This work aims to characterize a cocoa production system in the Urdaneta canton, Los Ríos province. The research work was carried out in the different enclosures of the Urdaneta canton through surveys of 70 farmers divided into two stages: the first stage to characterize in which it was carried out with 16 variables and the second stage to typify the producing farms with 16 variables. The results obtained in the cocoa production systems showed that in this area the farmers maintain a conventional production system, which may be due to the lack of training on the part of public and private institutions, that is, they have little knowledge to adopt an agriculture more sustainable, they maintain monoculture, high use of agrochemicals, which has caused a low yield in their crops, theyes_ES

dc.description.abstractEl cacao es de gran importancia en el comercio mundial, el cual se utiliza como ingrediente principal para la elaboración de diversos productos en Ecuador, representa uno de los principales rubros del sector agropecuario ecuatoriano, sirve como base para la generación de trabajo, componiendo una principal fuente de ingresos de las familias del país. Este trabajo tiene como objetivo caracterizar un sistema de producción cacaotera del cantón Urdaneta, provincia de los Ríos. El trabajo de investigación se realizó en los diferentes recintos del cantón Urdaneta mediante encuestas a 70 agricultores dividas en dos etapas: la primera etapa en caracterizar en la cual se llevó a cabo con 16 variables y la segunda etapa tipificar las fincas productoras con 16 variables. Los resultados obtenidos en los sistemas de producción de cacao demostraron que en esta zona los agricultores mantienen un sistema de producción de manera convencional, que puede deberse a la falta de capacitación de parte de instituciones públicas y privadas, ósea tienen poco conocimiento para adoptar una agricultura más sustentable, mantienen monocultivo, alto uso de agroquímicos, que ha provocado un bajo rendimiento en sus cultivos, mantienen grandes problemas de plagas y enfermedades, afectando la calidad de vida de los agricultores.es_ES
