dc.description | In this document we want to identify the benefits of using certified seeds for the establishment of oil palm cultivation (Elaeis guineensis Jacq), in Ecuador. The main problem found with non-certified seeds is that of 100% of these, only 50% of the plants are teneras; while 25% is hard plants and finally the other 25% correspond to Pisifera plants, which produce female inflorescences, but their fruits are aborted. Oil palm is becoming a very profitable commercial crop in Ecuador. However, the economic benefits in this activity can increase by improving production, with the efficient use of planting material that has a high productive potential. This investigative document, presented as a practical component, was developed through the collection of all kinds of information, carrying out a detailed investigation in the different free access web pages, scientific articles, thesis, sources and bibliographic documentation available on different platforms. digital. The main findings were fewer phytosanitary problems since the certified seeds have better plant health, are resistant to defoliating pests and vectors, and have greater tolerance to diseases that influence yield, such as wilting caused by Fusarium oxysporum and on the other hand PC bud rot. It was concluded that by making the use of certified seeds for the establishment of the oil palm crop, we will have different advantages such as: homogeneous germination with greater vigor, resistance of the plant to the main pests and diseases, greater production of fresh fruit per hectare, drought resistance and higher oil content per ton/fruit | es_ES |

| es_ES |
