dc.description | In Ecuador, malanga is still an unknown crop for most farmers. However, the planting of this tuber can be established without difficulty with the help of cultivation techniques, due to its hardiness. To establish a malanga plantation, it is important to verify several factors such as soil conditions, fertility, pest incidence, climatic conditions, varieties of commercial interest, which must take into account the agronomic management of the crop, which is made up of various technical activities that allow for excellent production and quality of the tuber. The information obtained was carried out through the technique of analysis, synthesis and summary, so that the reader can learn about the agronomic management of the malanga crop (Xanthosoma sagittifolium Schott) in Ecuador. Based on the above, it was determined that in Ecuador the malanga crop represents a commercial production for export, since it is an exotic tuber that occurs in subtropical and tropical zones such as Santo Domingo, Esmeraldas, El Oro and Los Ríos. In the tropical climate zone, where temperatures range between 23° and 30° C, are the largest areas of malanga cultivation, including Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, Quinindé (Esmeraldas), Quevedo, Valencia, Mocache, Buena Fe (Los Ríos), El Carmen, Puerto Cayo (Manabí), Puerto Quito, Pedro Vicente Maldonado. Agronomic management of the malanga crop is the fundamental basis for improving the productivity and quality of the tuber. Among the main activities of agronomic management of the malanga crop are: soil preparation, seed preparation, planting, earthing up, weeding, irrigation, fertilization, weed control, pest and disease management, harvesting and yield | es_ES |

| es_ES |
