dc.description | The resistance of bacterial microorganisms due to the indiscriminate use of antibiotic growth promoters has led to the search for better alternatives to optimize poultry production, being the essential oils of different aromatic plants an option to solve this problem, since they have proven to have several benefits, when implemented through antiparasitic, antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory activities. Several studies have shown that the use of different essential oils helps to improve the feed conversion of poultry, since one of their properties is the stimulation of appetite enzymes, which translates into a better carcass weight, in addition to improving its flavor. The combination of these essential oils with other raw materials makes it possible to improve production performance in general. This review mentions the main essential oils used in poultry production, besides being a positive alternative to the frequent use of antibiotics or drugs that have caused the resistance of some bacteria and other microorganisms, making their control more difficult and detrimental to human health due to the residual effects on meat and animal by-products. | es_ES |
