Black pepper in our country provides multiple health benefits, it also serves as a food seasoning. The exposed conclusions determine that there is outdated information and there is also little documentation regarding the agronomic management of black pepper in Ecuador; Currently, some areas are planted in the country, such as Pichincha, Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, Manabí, Esmeraldas, Los Ríos, Guayas and in the Ecuadorian Amazon; Pepper, both in grain and ground, is the most consumed gourmet variety in kitchens around the world, giving flavor to foods or drinks from different cultures. And also as medicine for humans and is a plant of tropical climate that adapts easily to diverse agroecological conditions. In addition, it is recommended to promote the planting of black pepper, as an alternative crop for farmers; make researchers aware so that they generate publications regarding this crop and avoid excessive consumption of black pepper, since it can affect the gastrointestinal organs due to its spicy flavor.es_ES

dc.description.abstractEl documento hace referencia sobre el manejo agronómico de Pimienta negra (Piper nigrum L.), en Ecuador. La pimienta negra en nuestro país aporta en múltiples beneficios para la salud, además sirve como condimento alimenticio. Las conclusiones expuestas determinan que existe información desactualizada y además es escasa la documentación referente al manejo agronómico de pimienta negra en Ecuador; actualmente, en el país se siembra algunas zonas como Pichincha, Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, Manabí, Esmeraldas, Los Ríos, Guayas y en la Amazonía Ecuatoriana; La pimienta, tanto en grano como molidas, son la variedad gourmet más consumida en las cocinas de todo el mundo, dando sabor a comidas o bebidas de diferentes culturas. Y además como medicina para los seres humanos y es una planta de clima tropical que se adapta fácilmente a diversas condiciones agroecológicas. Además, se recomienda promover la siembra de pimienta negra, como cultivo alternativo para los agricultores; concientizar a los investigadores para que generen publicaciones referentes a este cultivo y evitar el consumo en exceso de pimienta negra, ya que puede afectar los órganos gastrointestinales por su sabor picante.es_ES
