| dc.description | This research focused on studying data journalism is characterized by its rigorous focus on the collection, analysis and presentation of information through data and statistics, being fundamental in the digital era to enrich the informative narrative. Current technology has allowed data journalism to develop strongly in the journalistic environment. A qualitative, descriptive study, with an exploratory design, was developed with the objective of knowing the current state of data journalism, its impact on digital media and determining how the practice has been carried out in the province of Los Ríos. The findings of the research reflected that social communicators who work in digital media must be trained to face the challenges of PD, know technological tools and techniques for data extraction, visualization and volume of content. It is necessary to implement data journalism as a subject in the curriculum of the Social Communication degree. It can be concluded that data journalism in Ecuador is still developing; The results observed in the province of Los Ríos show that there are few journalists who have a professional profile suitable for working with data journalism. | es_ES |

| dc.description.abstract | La presente investigación se centró en estudiar el periodismo de datos, se caracteriza por su enfoque riguroso en la recopilación, análisis y presentación de información a través de datos y estadísticas, siendo fundamental en la era digital para enriquecer la narrativa informativa. La tecnología actual ha permitido que el periodismo de datos se desarrolle con fuerza en el medio periodístico. Se desarrolló un estudio de diseño cualitativo, descriptivo, exploratorio, con el objetivo de conocer el estado actual del periodismo de datos, su impacto en los medios digitales y determinar cómo se está ejerciendo la práctica en la provincia de Los Ríos. Los hallazgos de la investigación reflejaron que los comunicadores sociales que laboran en medios digitales deben capacitarse para enfrentar los desafíos de PD, conocer de las herramientas tecnológicas y técnicas para la extracción, visualización de datos y volumen de contenido. Es necesario implementar el periodismo de datos como materia en el currículo de la carrera de Comunicación Social. Se puede concluir que el periodismo de datos en Ecuador todavía está en desarrollo; los resultados observados en la provincia de Los Ríos muestran que son pocos los periodistas que tienen un perfil profesional acorde para trabajar con el periodismo datos. | es_ES |
