dc.descriptionThe present research about handicrafts as a cultural identity and their contribution to tourism in the Babahoyo canton, capital of the Los Ríos province, aims to identify the contribution of handicrafts to the cultural identity and tourism development of the canton. Crafts are part of the culture of a people and through them we can appreciate history, custom and traditions that have been given throughout history. With this case study, the community in general will benefit mainly the artisans who are dedicated to the elaboration of these products. Descriptive methods were used to collect information, which helped to learn more about handicrafts and the descriptive method in which an interview was applied to an artisan from the city of Babahoyo who is dedicated to making replicas of tourist places in the city. on balsa pole. Among the techniques used, a survey was carried out through a questionnaire, the survey was done with convenience sampling to 115 people due to the current situation of the covid-19 pandemic. To conclude, it was found that many people agree that handicrafts are part of the canton's tourism, however, there is not the necessary promotion and many tourists cannot easily access them since in the city there is no specific place where the Visitors can purchase souvenirs that show the culture of the city of Babahoyo.es_ES

dc.description.abstractLa presente investigación acerca de las artesanías como identidad cultural y su aporte en el turismo del cantón Babahoyo capital de la provincia de Los Ríos, tiene como objetivo identificar el aporte de las artesanías en la identidad cultural y el desarrollo turístico del cantón. Las artesanías son parte de la cultura de un pueblo y a través de ellas podemos apreciar historia, costumbre y tradiciones que se han venido dando a lo largo de la historia. Con este estudio de caso se beneficiará a la comunidad en general principalmente a los artesanos que se dedican a la elaboración de estos productos. Para la recolección de información se utilizó los métodos descriptivos el cual ayudo a conocer más sobre las artesanías y el método descriptivo en el que se aplicó una entrevista a un artesano de la ciudad de Babahoyo que se dedica a elaborar réplicas de lugares turísticos de la ciudad en palo de balsa. Entre las técnicas empleadas se realizó una encuesta por medio de un cuestionario, la encuesta se hizo con muestreo por conveniencia a 115 personas debido a la situación actual de la pandemia covid-19. Para concluir se detectó que muchas personas están de acuerdo en que las artesanías forman parte del turismo del cantón, sin embargo, no existe la promoción necesaria y muchos turistas no pueden acceder fácilmente a ellas ya que en la ciudad no existe un lugar específico donde los visitantes puedan adquirir souvenirs que muestren la cultura de la ciudad de Babahoyo.es_ES
