This research addresses the effects of diet on cardiovascular disease in adults. The research variables have a significant impact on the community, given the area's diverse populations. These factors, such as hypertension, obesity, overweight, and type II diabetes mellitus, increase the risk of cardiovascular disease and pose a challenge to the community. It is also known that in Ecuador, cardiovascular disease was the leading cause of death in 2018, while worldwide, in 2016, approximately 17.9 million deaths were caused primarily by heart attacks and strokes, according to the WHO. Although these CVDs are the product of several factors that may or may not occur simultaneously, diet and lifestyle play a crucial role. A poor diet and poor habits are the main factors that can lead to more serious complications. The objective of this research project is to understand the impact of diet on cardiovascular disease in adults, and how diet is associated with cardiovascular risk in adults aged 45 to 65 in the Virgilio Zúñiga community. The research will be conducted in a descriptive, exploratory, and cross-sectional manner, using a prospective method because it would be conducted in the current period. To gather information, a survey will be used to determine the level of knowledge held by residents of the Virgilio Zúñiga community.es_ES
