dc.description | The general objective of this research work was to identify sustainable agriculture practices that influence the productivity of cocoa farms (Theobroma cacao L.) in Vinces canton, Los Ríos province, where the following specific objectives were raised: 1. Identify the sustainable agriculture practices implemented in cocoa producing farms in the Antonio Sotomayor parish. 2. Evaluate through surveys the performance and quality of cocoa obtained through these sustainable practices in comparison with traditional methods. 3. Analyze the environmental and social benefits generated by the adoption of sustainable agriculture practices on cocoa farms. To carry out the field work, 3 questionnaires were constructed that allowed collecting primary information from 50 cocoa agricultural producers in the Antonio Sotomayor parish. During the visit to the farmers, it was possible to see that a small group uses very little chemical products in their crops. Another practice identified is that there are farmers who have several crops on their farms, being able to grow products such as: banana, cassava, beans, corn, avocado, mango, or others for family consumption, which allows for the optimization of the use of the land, and a better use of water. It was also identified that there are farmers who have implemented integrated pest management, taking advantage of beneficial insects, and have used varieties of cocoa plants that are very resistant to pests and diseases. Cocoa producers have carried out an evaluation of the performance in the quality of the product they have obtained through the use of Sustainable Agriculture practices compared to the traditional methods they previously used, showing good results, as they have seen an increase in cocoa production per hectare, as well as the quality of cobs and grains, which allows them to have higher incomes. In the sociodemographic analysis carried out, it has been shown that the farmers have good living conditions, and that they can continue to improve by complementing public policies for their benefit; Regarding the economic impact on their family, cocoa farming has allowed them to obtain the necessary resources to support household expenses; Regarding the environmental impact of cocoa farming, few farmers have done so, but it has been shown that there are good practices of Sustainable Agriculture that they have implemented in the short term, which guarantee cocoa production in the long term. | es_ES |

| es_ES |
