dc.description | Canine anaplasmosis, caused by the bacterium Anaplasma phagocytophilum, is an emerging disease with zoonotic implications, as infected ticks can transmit it to humans. In Babahoyo, the prevalence of this disease in dogs is still unknown, and its control and prevention are hampered by the lack of epidemiological studies in the region. The research was conducted at the 4 de Mayo Citadel to determine the presence of the bacteria in 70 selected dogs using a non-parametric statistical methodology, specifically the chi-square test, in order to optimize the diagnosis and control of the disease, improving canine health and reducing zoonotic risks. The results were as follows: Of the total samples evaluated, 4 positive cases of hemoparasites were found. Within the age group, it was found that dogs aged 1-4 years presented 2 positive cases. Regarding sex, the result was 3 positive cases in males, equivalent to 5% of the population, while 29 females were evaluated, where one positive case was confirmed, equivalent to 1%. Finally, the breed most susceptible to this disease is the mixed breed, with 4 positive cases. Thus, and through the chi-square study, the affirmative hypothesis is accepted, since the presence of Anaplasma was indeed present. | es_ES |

| es_ES |
