dc.descriptionReading teaching, as a cultural process, must be broader than in the past, since it must meet the increasing demands of contemporary life. The objective of the research was to determine how reading comprehension impacts academic work in basic education students in Tungurahua. The type of research is descriptive explanatory with a quantitative approach to analyze the relationship between reading comprehension and academic work. The study population consisted of 62 7th grade EGB students. The results showed that important characteristics were evident in relation to academic work, taking the summaries and paraphrases that the students elaborate, which are evident as weak in their development, limiting the cognitive process, and also showing insufficient analytical capacities in the argumentation they make, showing inadequate critical reading. Certain elements that are present in reading comprehension were identified, which are points that should be given special treatment, such as the coherence and cohesion of the structure of academic works, as well as the lack of originality in the analysis of content that students present in their works. It is concluded that the way in which the variables Reading Comprehension and Academic Works are related is significantly positive, the correlation obtained was Rho = 0.821, which establishes a high relationship between the variables and that adequate and pertinent reading comprehension impacts on academic works, explaining it by 67.40%.es_ES

dc.description.abstractLa enseñanza de la lectura, como un proceso cultural, debe ser más amplia que en el pasado, pues se han de satisfacer las exigencias cada vez mayores de la vida contemporánea. El objetivo de la investigación fue determinar la forma en que la Comprensión lectora impacta en los Trabajos académicos en estudiantes de educación básica en Tungurahua. El tipo de investigación es descriptivo explicativo con un enfoque cuantitativo para analizar la relación entre la comprensión lectora y los trabajos académicos. La población de estudio estuvo constituida por 62 estudiantes de 7mo año EGB. Los resultados mostraron que se evidenciaron características importantes referidas a los trabajos académicos, tomando a los resúmenes y paráfrasis que elaboran los estudiantes los mismos que se evidencian como débiles en su desarrollo, limitando el proceso cognitivo, además se muestran insuficientes capacidades de análisis en la argumentación que realizan mostrando inadecuada lectura crítica. Se pudo identificar ciertos elementos que presentan la comprensión lectora, las cuales son puntos a darles un tratamiento especial como la coherencia y cohesión de la estructura de los trabajos académicos, asimismo, la poca originalidad en el análisis de contenidos que en sus trabajos presentan los estudiantes. Se concluye que la que la forma en que se relaciona las variables Comprensión lectora y Trabajos académicos es significativamente positiva, la correlación obtenida fue de Rho = 0,821 lo que establece una alta relación entre las variables y que la adecuada y pertinente comprensión lectoras impacta sobre los trabajos académicos explicándola en un 67,40 %.es_ES
