dc.description | This experimental study was conducted to evaluate and analyze fecal samples from dogs to determine the incidence levels of the Ancylostoma parasite. This research seeks to verify whether the animals are in optimal health and do not have a high parasitic load, which could affect their overall well-being. To perform this analysis, the direct smear technique was used, a method that allows the presence of parasite eggs or larvae to be observed in canine feces. The study was conducted at the Dr. Dario Pet Veterinary Center, located in the Ventanas canton, Los Ríos province. Samples were collected from each canine patient seen at the center, including both those who came for consultations due to illness and those who were seen as a preventive measure. This allowed for a comparison between different age groups and clinical conditions, in order to identify whether there is a higher prevalence of Ancylostoma in certain age groups or health conditions. The central objective of the study was to determine whether the dogs treated at the center had any incidence of parasitism, and if so, to ensure they received appropriate treatment. This information is key to establishing more effective deworming protocols and preventing future health complications for pets, thus promoting a better quality of life for domestic animals in the area.
