dc.description | Corn Z. mays maize is one of the world's most important crops due to its high photosynthetic efficiency and production capacity. However, it faces serious threats from pests such as S. frugiperda, whose damage can reduce yields by 20% to 100%. The objective of this study was to analyze the efficacy of plant extracts in the control of S. frugiperda through a literature review. The strategy consisted of a non-experimental research design based on the collection, analysis and synthesis of relevant scientific data. The results indicate that plant extracts can be an effective tool for integrated management of S. frugiperda, especially when applied during the early phenological stage of maize. Although chemical control has been the main strategy, its incorrect use has produced problems such as pest resistance and environmental impacts. In this sense, the use of neem extract (Azadirachta indica), an insecticide, repellent and growth regulator whose action is attributed to azadirachtin, which hinders feeding, development and reproduction of the pest, has been evaluated and has proven to be an effective alternative for the control of S. frugiperda. It was concluded that management of S. frugiperda should be based on an integrated approach combining biological, cultural and chemical strategies | es_ES |

| es_ES |
