dc.description | This research analyzes the perception of sexual harassment in public and academic spaces among female students of the tourism career, highlighting the normalization of harassment and the scarce information on the subject. This report seeks to be a pioneer in studying the sexual harassment faced by female students of Tourism in the various public and academic spaces where they carry out their activities, from an exploratory and quantitative perspective. Its objective is to analyze the perception of female students of the Tourism career at the Technical University of Babahoyo regarding sexual harassment in the public spaces where they work. The proposed methodology is a quantitative approach, non-experimental design, exploratory type and deductive method. Techniques such as documentary review and surveys were used, applying questionnaires voluntarily and anonymously as an instrument. The population is 211 female students from 1st to 8th semester of the career. As for the sample obtained through the results of the survey is 105 female students of the Tourism Career. The results reveal an incidence of harassment in public transportation, university and professional practices. Forms of harassment such as leering, obscene comments and cyberbullying were identified, most of them do not know the procedures for complaints at UTB. Despite the existence of a legal framework in Ecuador to protect women against harassment, there are opinions that normalize inappropriate behavior. Thus, there is a need to improve knowledge of reporting procedures and strengthen institutional communication with training programs, anonymous harassment reporting systems and collaboration with authorities to address and prevent harassment in a comprehensive manner. | es_ES |
