dc.descriptionDiabetes Mellitus Type II (T2DM) is a disease caused by an increase in blood glucose levels and that affects millions of people around the world. This is considered a public health problem. This clinical case is presented in a 68-year-old female patient with Type II Diabetes mellitus, goes for a nutritional consultation to improve her lifestyle and current state of health, where she reports a family history of a diabetic mother and brother, symptoms such as dizziness, weakness, polydipsia, among others. others. Reasons why, the objective of the case is to determine the nutritional care process in a 68-year-old female patient with a diagnosis of type II diabetes mellitus. To achieve this purpose, anthropometric, biochemical, clinical and dietary assessments were carried out through a 24-hour reminder. The results showed high blood glucose, overweight, inadequate BMI, hemoglobin and hematocrit were not within normal values, and inadequate eating habits. Therefore, the patient received a meal plan according to her needs based on a diet of 1500 kcal/day. low-fat, low-sodium, with complex carbohydrates, high in fiber and divided into 5 meal times a day. The nutritional intervention had favorable results because it improved the altered biochemical values and the identified nutritional status. It should be noted that the results were evident after two month of the prescribed treatment.es_ES

dc.description.abstractLa Diabetes Mellitus Tipo II (DMT2) es una enfermedad causada por un incremento en los niveles de glucosa en la sangre y que afecta a millones de personas en todo el mundo, es considerada problema de salud pública; el presente caso clínico se expone el caso de una paciente de sexo femenino de 68 años de edad con Diabetes Mellitus tipo II, acude a consulta nutricional para mejorar su estado metabólico, su estilo de vida y estado de salud actual, donde refiere antecedentes familiares de diabetes de madre y hermano. Refiere síntomas como mareo, decaimiento, polidipsia, entre otros. Razones por las cuales, el objetivo del caso es Aplicar el proceso de atención nutricional en paciente femenino de 68 años de edad con diagnóstico de diabetes mellitus tipo II. Para dicho propósito se realizaron valoraciones antropométricas, bioquímicas, clínicas y dietéticas a través de un recordatorio de 24 horas. Los resultados evidenciaron glicemia alta, sobre peso, IMC inadecuado, hemoglobina no se encuentra en valores normales, y hábitos alimenticios inadecuados, por ello la paciente recibió un plan de alimentación de acuerdo sus necesidades basado en una dieta de 1500 kcal/día, de características hipograsa, hiposódica, con carbohidratos complejos alta en fibra y fraccionada en 5 tiempos de comida al día. La intervención nutricional tuvo resultados favorables porque mejoro los valores bioquímicos alterados y el estado nutricional identificado. Cabe indicar que los resultados se evidenciaron luego de dos meses del tratamiento prescrito.es_ES
