Iron deficiency anemia is caused by a deficiency of red blood cells due to low iron consumption. This condition can cause serious adverse outcomes during pregnancy. Therefore, iron deficiency anemia is a public health problem that has been increasing over time. Over the years due to deficiencies in eating habits due to the low consumption of poorly diversified diets, therefore it is important that women undergo an assessment of their nutritional status before and during pregnancy since this plays a fundamental role for their health, and that of the fetus. The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between nutritional status and iron deficiency anemia in pregnant women treated at the Olón Health Center. A non-experimental, qualitative, quantitative, descriptive, prospective cross-sectional study was carried out. The sample was made up of 60 pregnant women, resulting in 42% being overweight, 33% normal and 13% obese, indicating that the pregnant women have an inadequate nutritional status. In addition, 40% of the pregnant women were found to have mild anemia and 25% moderate anemia. Regarding eating habits, through the application of a food consumption frequency survey, it indicates that 60% have inadequate eating habits. It is concluded that there is a relationship between the nutritional status of pregnant women and iron deficiency anemia.es_ES
