dc.description | This experimental study aimed to identify the presence of Toxoplasma gondii infection in domestic cats from the Barrio Lindo neighborhood in Babahoyo. For this purpose, 50 fecal samples were collected and processed using the flotation technique in a supersaturated saline solution to detect Toxoplasma gondii oocysts. Risk factors such as age, sex, diet, and environment that could predispose to infection were evaluated. The results showed that none of the 50 cats analyzed had toxoplasmosis infection. Additionally, no significant differences were found in the risk factors evaluated using Pearson’s Chi-Square non-parametric test (χ²), due to the zero incidence of parasitosis in the geographic area. It is recommended to increase the number of samples and use more specialized identification methods in future studies to improve parasite detection. | es_ES |

dc.description.abstract | Este estudio experimental tuvo como objetivo identificar la presencia de infección por Toxoplasma gondii en gatos domésticos de la ciudadela Barrio Lindo en Babahoyo. Para ello, se recolectaron 50 muestras fecales, procesadas mediante la técnica de flotación en solución sobresaturada para detectar ooquistes de Toxoplasma gondii. Se evaluaron factores de riesgo como edad, sexo, alimentación y ambiente que podrían predisponer a la infección. Los resultados mostraron que ninguno de los 50 gatos analizados presentó infección por toxoplasmosis. Además, no se encontraron diferencias significativas en los factores de riesgo evaluados mediante la prueba no paramétrica Chi Cuadrado de Pearson (χ²), debido a la nula incidencia de la parasitosis en la zona geográfica. Se recomienda aumentar el número de muestras y utilizar métodos de identificación más especializados en futuros estudios para mejorar la detección de parásitos. | es_ES |
