dc.descriptionThis document details the importance of the use of plant biotechnology in Ecuador, where the objectives were to systematize information regarding the procedures and uses of plant biotechnology techniques and establish the benefits that plant biotechnology provides in Ecuador. The conclusions determined that biotechnology encompasses an extensive diversity of methodologies, with plant tissue culture being the most prominent in our nation. This process begins with the identification and selection of plant tissues in the field, followed by in vitro clonal propagation of plants that exhibit superior traits, thus preserving their quality and vegetative health. Furthermore, it encompasses the use of scientific and technological advances in plant manipulation, aimed at improving crop production through the cultivation of adapted genotypes and the integration of valuable traits. This is achieved by exploring novel applications and expanding genetic knowledge, using a wide range of techniques such as classical breeding, cytogenetics, molecular genetics, plant genetic resources, genetic mapping, transcriptomics, transgenesis and interference. of RNA. The use of biotechnological techniques in the country is advantageous due to its contributions to the improvement of cultivars, highlighting the case of bananas, the main export product.es_ES

dc.description.abstractEl presente documento detalla sobre la importancia del uso de la Biotecnología vegetal en el Ecuador, donde los objetivos planteados fueron sistematizar información referente a los procedimientos y usos de las técnicas de biotecnología vegetal y establecer los beneficios que aporta la biotecnología vegetal en el Ecuador. Las conclusiones determinaron que la biotecnología engloba una diversidad extensa de metodologías, siendo el cultivo de tejidos vegetales la más destacada en nuestra nación. Este proceso comienza con la identificación y selección de tejidos vegetales en el campo, seguida de la propagación clonal in vitro de plantas que exhiben rasgos superiores, preservando así su calidad y salud vegetativa. Además, abarca la utilización de avances científicos y tecnológicos en la manipulación de plantas, destinados a mejorar la producción de cultivos mediante el cultivo de genotipos adaptados y la integración de rasgos valiosos. Esto se logra mediante la exploración de aplicaciones novedosas y la expansión del conocimiento genético, utilizando una amplia gama de técnicas como el mejoramiento clásico, la citogenética, la genética molecular, los recursos fitogenéticos, el mapeo genético, la transcriptómica, la transgénesis y la interferencia de ARN. El empleo de técnicas biotecnológicas en el país resulta ventajoso por sus contribuciones a la mejora de los cultivares, destacando el caso del banano, principal producto de exportación.es_ES
