El juego ha evolucionado hasta convertirse en una actividad recreativa que fomenta la socialización y el desarrollo individual en diversos ámbitos como el cognitivo, emocional, intelectual, físico y social. En su forma más auténtica, el juego se realiza por placer y realización personal, sin motivos ocultos; el niño participa en el juego simplemente para experimentar placer en lugar de buscar algún premio o recompensa. La psicomotricidad es una función esencial en la infancia ya que influye en los aspectos motores y cognitivos, acompaña el crecimiento del niño desde sus primeros años hasta la edad adulta, ayudando al desarrollo emocional e intelectual.
