The Cyperus genus includes a large group of plants that are widespread around the world; Some species are considered weeds because they affect crops of economic importance such as avocado, cotton, rice, oats, coffee, sugar cane, among others. This research was developed as a non-experimental component of a bibliographic nature, through a technique of analysis, synthesis and summary of the information obtained. From the above details, it is determined that the important weed species of the Cyperus genus are: C, esculentus, C, odoratus, C, rotundus, C, iría, C, bellus and C, fuscus, found in temperate and tropical zones, the same which can reduce crop yields due to direct competition for nutrients, water, light and space. The most appropriate method of controlling Cyperus weeds is to create an integrated management plan based on the following tools: proper identification of weeds, understanding of the history of the production system, constant monitoring of the property and surrounding areas, management strategies. population-based control and diversity of weeds using a combination of technologies, appropriate use of herbicides, monitoring and evaluation of weed effectiveness and management decisions.es_ES
