Seroprevalencia de Brucella spp. en poblaciones de équidos(equidaes) en la zona sur de la Provincia de Los Ríos

| dc.description | Brucellosis is an infection caused by a facultative intracellular bacterium belonging to the Brucella spp. This has come to be considered one of the most important zoonoses in the world due to its implications on public health and its repercussions on livestock production. As mentioned above, this work was carried out with the purpose of determining the seroprevalence of Brucella spp in equine populations in the southern area of the Province of Los Ríos. Therefore, in this investigation, 364 equids belonging to the southern area of the province mentioned above were sampled in the following cantons (Baba, Vinces, Palenque and Babahoyo), which will be 44 farms or properties. The positive cases of Brucella spp were evaluated using the non-parametric test for a single sample, chi square test, the positive cases were 17, which represents 5%. It should be noted that the positive cases occurred mostly in the Baba canton with 16 cases, which represents 94.12%, while in the Babahoyo canton only 1 case occurred, 6 horses, 5 foals, 3 mares and 3 fillies. Among the animals most susceptible to brucella spp are horses. | es_ES |

| dc.description.abstract | La brucelosis es una infección causada por una bacteria intracelular facultativa perteneciente a la familia del género Brucella spp. Esta es llegada a ser considerada una de las zoonosis más importantes en el mundo por sus implicaciones en la salud pública y sus repercusiones en la producción pecuaria. Por lo antes, mencionado, el presente trabajo se realizó con la finalidad de determinar la seroprevalencia de brucella spp, en poblaciones de équidos de la zona sur de la Provincia de Los Ríos. Por lo tanto, en esta investigación fueron muestreados 364 équidos perteneciente a la zona sur de la provincia antes mencionadas en los siguientes cantones (Baba, Vinces, Palenque y Babahoyo), los cuales serán 44 fincas o predios. Los casos positivos de Brucella spp fueron evaluados mediante la prueba no paramétrica para una sola muestra, prueba chi cuadrado, los casos positivos fueron 17 que representa el 5%. cabe señalar que los casos positivos se presentaron en su mayoría en el cantón Baba con 16 casos que representa el 94,12%, mientras que en el cantón Babahoyo solo se presentó 1 caso, los 6 caballos, 5 potrillos, 3 yeguas y 3 potrancas. Entre los animales más susceptibles a brucella spp están los caballos. | es_ES |
