There are 25 species and 17 genera of phytopathogens that affect pitahaya. Most of them cause fungal diseases in stems, flowers and fruits. There are two bacterial diseases, one viral disease and several nematodes associated with problems in this crop. The most reported diseases are: viral disease (cactus virus X), canker (Neoscytalidium dimidiatum), anthracnose (Colletotrichum sp.), and fruit and stem rot (Fusarium Oxysporum Schltdl, among others. This paper deals with the incidence of stem rot in Pitahaya as diseases of current economic importance for this crop. Key words: Phytopathogens, pitahaya, pitahaya diseases.es_ES
