These visual problems affect students in their ability that affects the achievement of their objectives. Objective: To analyze the refractive defects in the academic performance of the students of the eighth and ninth year of basic education of the Miguel Ángel Samaniego Jiménez Educational Unit, Babahoyo canton. Methodology: the deductive and inductive method was applied, a cross-sectional field study. In the field because the area where the research is directed is observed, the review of the medical records of the students was used as a technique, the transversal modality was also used because a group of students was observed and certain data obtained in a study were also analyzed. certain moment. Results: visual exams were performed on each student. 13 have myopia corresponding to 86%, 2 students have myopic astigmatism corresponding to 13%. Of the 24 students who were evaluated, 62% of these visual problems affect their academic performance. Conclusions: most of the students valued in this study present 86% myopia and 13% myopic astigmatism. Refractive errors are one of the main factors that affect the quality of vision of students, negatively affecting academic performance.es_ES

dc.description.abstractIntroducción: El trabajo tiene la necesidad de investigar los defectos refractivos que influye en su desempeño académico. Estos problemas visuales inciden a los estudiantes en su capacidad que afecta en el logro de sus objetivos. Objetivo: Analizar los defectos refractivos en el desempeño académico de los estudiantes del octavo y noveno año de educación básica de la Unidad Educativa Miguel Ángel Samaniego Jiménez cantón Babahoyo. Metodología: se aplicó el método deductivo e inductivo, estudio de campo de corte transversal. De campo porque se observa el área donde va dirigida la investigación, se utilizó como técnica la revisión de las historias clínicas de los estudiantes, también se empleó la modalidad transversal porque se observó a un grupo de estudiantes y también se analizó ciertos datos obtenidos en un momento determinado. Resultados: se realizó los exámenes visuales a cada estudiante. 13 tienen miopía correspondiendo a un 86%, 2 estudiantes tienen astigmatismo miopico correspondiendo a un 13%. De los 24 estudiantes que fueron evaluados a un 62% estos problemas visuales les afecta en su desempeño académico. Conclusiones: la mayoría de los estudiantes valorizados en este estudio presentan el 86% de miopía y 13% de astigmatismo miopico. los defectos refractivos es uno de los principales factores que afectan la calidad de visión de los estudiantes repercutiendo negativamente en el desempeño académico.es_ES
