In the present investigation, reference is made to the effects of plant covers on the development and yield of the broad bean (Vicia faba L.) crop in Ecuador; whose objectives were: to suggest cover crops that help the problems of agricultural areas and detail the benefits of grass, leguminous and grass crops as cover crops. The document was developed by compiling all kinds of information on the various web pages, scientific articles, sources and bibliographic documentation available on digital platforms. The conclusions determined that: Legumes, grasses, grasses, turnips and radishes are the most widely used cover crops, especially for crop rotation and direct sowing, since they are considered to establish organic farming (which is the most applied in the in recent times) where it is about reducing the harmful factors that contaminate the soil and the environment and in turn contribute to improving production in agricultural areas and among the benefits provided by cover crops, it is detailed that they prevent soil erosion, they attract pollinating insects, facilitate weed control, regulate humidity, attract pollinating insects, serve as a source of organic fertilizer and are often used as grazing and forage; they promote the incorporation of residues either in the same cycle or in subsequent cycles and the cover crops, after the fourth year allow the penetration of water for the benefit of the crops, due to the decomposition of roots towards the subsoil.es_ES
