The present research work deals with the "Integrated management of Pythium myriotylum in the cultivation of malanga (Colocasia esculenta), the objectives were: To report on the integrated management of Pythium myriotylum in the cultivation of malanga (Colocasia esculenta), the methodology of bibliographic research, raising all kinds of technical-technological information from publications, books, magazines, articles, and specialized websites on this subject, the research techniques used were: inductive-deductive reading. The study found that there are few areas of malanga cultivation in Ecuador, there is also a lack of knowledge of the high nutritional, commercial and industrial value of this crop. The presence of the phytopathogenic fungus Pythium myriotylum, which causes the “Mal seco” disease, is almost unknown; and those who know this fungus believe that it is not easy to identify it by technical procedures, and its specific control is difficult. In these circumstances it is proposed: to socialize the crop, and its benefits; train producers on the prevention and treatment of the "Mal seco" disease and its causal fungus Pythium myriotylum, technically assist current farmers who are dedicated to this crop; and generate printed information to instruct on the procedures for the Integrated Management of Pythium myriotylum in the cultivation of malanga (Colocasia esculenta).es_ES
