dc.description | The problem of securing the food supply in urban centers is growing, hand in hand with the annual population increase, and is becoming increasingly complex. The population of urban centers consumes of increasingly low-quality food and becomes dependent on existing conventional supply chains. Together, it is exposed to the enormous amounts of waste production that threaten the long-term viability of the urban centers themselves. These specificities indicate three key options that determine the success of the food supply chain: product quality, distribution safety, and waste management. This study aims to identify the impacts of sustainable agriculture in urban centers through a bibliographic review. According to FAO data, sustainable production areas in Ecuador are less than 1% of the total production area. Urban centers progressively claim more and better products for consumption. | es_ES |

| es_ES |
