dc.descriptionThe present study in a clinical case of a 62-year-old female patient of commercial engineering profession with 3 children domiciled in the city of Babahoyo with a recent diagnosis of type 2 diabetes mellitus refers to taking her medication as indicated by her doctor within his family history father with diabetes mellitus type 2 and mother with hypertension grade I, comes to consultation for presenting symptoms of the disease where complementary tests are performed which showed elevation in his glycemia. A nutritional assessment is carried out which, according to her body mass index (BMI), is overweight with cardiovascular risk, which is why she is immediately referred to the nutritionist for her timely intervention and to prevent complications in her health. An individualized nutritional plan is carried out for the patient, taking into account her nutritional diagnosis and pathological condition, a therapeutic diet plan that meets daily caloric requirements, the type of diet she will take will be a diabetic diet that will be divided into 5 meals daily, in order to maintain optimal metabolic control. The patient underwent a one-month follow-up to see the results of the nutritional intervention in which we obtained favorable results since her glycemia could drop and be in normal values, as well as a drop in her body mass index closer to normal values.es_ES

dc.description.abstractEl presente estudio en un caso clínico de una paciente de sexo femenino de 62 años de edad de profesión ingeniera comercial con 3 hijos domiciliada en la ciudad de Babahoyo con un diagnostico reciente de diabetes mellitus tipo 2 refiere estar tomando su medicación como se lo indico su doctor dentro de sus antecedentes familiares padre con diabetes mellitus tipo 2 y madre con hipertensión grado I, acude a consulta por presentar síntomas propios de la enfermedad donde se le realiza exámenes complementarios los cuales demostraron elevación en su glicemia. Se le realiza la valoración nutricional la cual según indicia su índice de masa corporal (IMC) presenta sobrepeso con riesgo cardiovascular, motivo por el cual es inmediatamente derivada a la nutricionista para su oportuna intervención y prevenir complicación en su salud. Se le realiza un plan nutricional individualizado a la paciente, teniendo en cuenta su diagnóstico nutricional y su condición patológica, un plan dieto terapéutico que cumpla con los requerimientos calóricos diarios, el tipo de dieta que llevará será dieta para diabético que se fraccionara en 5 comidas al día, con el fin de sostener un óptimo control metabólico. A la paciente se le realizo un seguimiento de un mes para ver los resultados de la intervención nutricional en el cual obtuvimos resultados favorables ya que su glicemia pudo bajar y estar en valores normales además de una baja en su índice de masa corporal más cercano de los valores normales.es_ES
