It dates from February 29 of the 2020 leap, when the first patient, confirmed by the Ministry of Public Health of Ecuador, with a positive diagnosis of COVID-19 in the South American Pacific strip was reported from Babahoyo, three days before the first victim of this severe respiratory syndrome that was declared a pandemic due to its accelerated rebound on a global scale. To date, 3 significant advances in vaccines have been reported to counteract the pandemic and hospitals have the latest achievements that science provides to medicine to treat the most severe cases, but a few months ago the situation was different. There are still upturns in a country like the United States or Brazil where the population relaxed causing a significant increase in the number of deaths from the virus. This analysis will present how the communicational treatment of the information that emerged from the Administrative Directorate of the General Hospital of the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security of Babahoyo was developed in which the coordination of social communication is assigned. This document will show some of the evidence of the strategy applied by the person in charge of social communication of the health center in coordination with the national base of the IESS public relations area. Like digital media on social networks, through their representatives, they were a fundamental part in the dissemination of press releases and journalistic notes to keep the community informed of the actions developed by the hospital administration to face a pandemic.es_ES
