Iron deficiency anemia occurs when the body does not make enough iron. The causes may be due to different factors, among them we can mention a decrease in iron intake, poor absorption in the digestive tract, among others. However, we must know that there are several types of anemia and the cause of each one is very different, but the most common form of the disease is iron deficiency anemia. It is estimated that there are more than 2 billion people with iron deficiency. The prevalence of anemia among the group of pregnant women, infants and children under two years of age in developing countries exceeds the value of 50% and among preschool children and among women of childbearing age it is slightly lower, but always of magnitudes important. The most common clinical manifestations that will occur in iron deficiency anemia are fatigue, exhaustion, dyspnea and irregular palpitations. In order to diagnose iron deficiency anemia, a blood test will be done to determine the exact amount of hemoglobin and the count of red blood cells in the blood. If the pregnant woman has iron deficiency anemia, her red blood cell count will be lower than normal. Normally, treatment for iron deficiency anemia involves replacing iron loss from the body. In this case study it is established in the application of the nursing care process, through which I have focused more on investigating the clinical characteristics, risk factors and altered functional patterns, in order to publicize the proper management of a patient with iron deficiency anemia, relating them to nursing care.es_ES
