Coronaviruses (CoVs) are a large family of viruses that cause illnesses ranging from the common cold to more serious illnesses. However, the new virus was temporarily named "COVID-19". On February 11, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced an official name for the disease that is causing the current outbreak of the coronavirus disease, COVID-19 (WHO, 2020). COVID-19 can be transmitted mainly by respiratory droplets and by direct contact with the secretions of infected people. The most common clinical picture of infection includes respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, and shortness of breath. In more severe cases, the infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure, and even death. However, the incubation period of the disease has been estimated between 2 and 14 days (WHO, 2020). It is important to recommend that all suspected cases for possible COVID-19 should undergo nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal tests, to be analyzed by reverse transcriptase PCR. We must mention that to date there is no specific antiviral treatment recommended for COVID-19 infection. People who are positive for COVID-19 should receive supportive care to help relieve symptoms (MSP, 2020). The purpose of applying the nursing care process in a 60-year-old patient with COVID-19 pneumonia is to be able to provide comprehensive care to the patient through the interventions that will be provided during her hospital stay, until her complete well-being is achieved.es_ES
