| dc.description | The purpose of this study is to demonstrate how the implementation of urban gardens in the city of Babahoyo favors the development of the population, guaranteeing food health, providing a source of employment for its inhabitants and thus improving its economy. The practice of peri-urban horticulture has taken place as a process of solidarity participation that aims to integrate the community. In Ecuador, according to the latest results of poverty, inequality and labor market as of December 2011 carried out by INEC3, 28.6% of Ecuadorians live in urban-rural areas and it is in this area where problems develop with greater intensity due to lack of jobs, due to food problems and the way of life of the sector. Although it is true, we know about the problems that the community has in these areas and the factors that influence them, we want to understand more deeply the performance and achievements generated with the implementation of vertical horticulture, as well as recommendations for implementation of future projects. | es_ES |

| dc.description.abstract | El presente estudio, tiene como finalidad demostrar como la implementación de huertos urbanos en la ciudad de Babahoyo favorecen al desarrollo de la población garantizando la salud alimentaria, proveyendo de fuente de empleo a sus habitantes y por ende mejorar su economía. La práctica de la horticultura periurbana se ha dado como un proceso de participación solidaria que pretende integrar a la comunidad. En Ecuador, según los últimos resultados de pobreza, desigualdad y mercado laboral a diciembre de 2011 realizadas por el INEC3 el 28,6% de los ecuatorianos habita en áreas Urbano-rural y es en esta zona donde los problemas se desarrollan con mayor intensidad por falta de fuentes de trabajo, por problemas alimenticios y por el modo de vida del sector. Si bien es cierto, sabemos de los problemas que la comunidad tiene en estas zonas y los factores que influyen a los mismos se desea entender con mayor profundidad el desempeño y logros generados con la implementación de la horticultura vertical, así como también recomendaciones para la implementación de futuros proyectos. | es_ES |
