dc.description.abstract	Desde tiempos inmemorables Baba, indomable y heroico en su tiempo. Con la llegada de los españoles, a tierras americanas, este pueblo un 20 de noviembre de 1954, fue elevado a la categoría de tenencia, formando parte del corregimiento de Guayaquil, dependiendo de la Real Audiencia de Quito. Y a partir del 27 de agosto de 1701 fue elevada a la condición de partido con igual categoría que Portoviejo, Babahoyo, Daule, Santa Elena y Yaguachi. Baba “la señorial población fluminense “es uno de los cantones más antiguos de la provincia de Los Ríos tiene su abolengo y un prestigioso pasado, durante la época colonial, pues estando asentada a un costado del rio de su nombre, tuvo días magníficos en el vivir social de aquel entonces. Además, centro agrícola de grandes riquezas, lugar donde vivió gente de abolengo y estirpe, quienes venían desde Guayaquil con el afán de paseo, tanto de orden civil como eclesiástico. Sin embargo, al paso de los años sus ciudadanos han perdido el interés por seguir sus tradiciones ancestrales, dejando en el olvido sus costumbres, es por este motivo que la ciudadanía debe tomar en consideración la importancia de mantener viva esta cultura, con la cual se identifican y se diferencian de las demás culturas que los rodean. El rodeo montubio del Cantón Baba nace en las labores cotidianas del montubio ecuatoriano es una actividad con la cual se identifican muchos ciudadanos y que si no se toman las medidas necesarias estas se van a perder por completo, dejando a futuras generaciones un legado de recuerdos e historias que no se van a volver a vivir. A lo largo de la historia política de este Cantón no se la ha tomado el interés adecuado al rescate de las tradiciones montubias, sin embargo, las autoridades actuales están realizando actividades en conjunto con autoridades de otros cantones de la provincia de Los Ríos como son: Babahoyo, Ventanas, Vinces, Buena Fe, Pueblo Viejo para rescatar algunas actividades que son parte de la cultura de un pueblo de gran trascendencia histórica.	es_ES
