dc.descriptionFamily abandonment is a situation in which the lack of emotional, social and economic support of the older adult by some member of the family is evident. This factor can manifest itself in lack of attention, social isolation or neglect regarding health. On the other hand, self-esteem is a personal and evaluative perception that one has of oneself, in one's beliefs about one's abilities and in one's confidence in one's decisions and actions. The present mixed research study deals with family abandonment and self-esteem of older adults from the Juan Ignacio Veintimilla parish of Guaranda Canton, Bolívar Province. The objective of this research is to establish the impact of family abandonment on the self-esteem of older adults, in order to understand how family abandonment can contribute to the high or low self-esteem of elderly people and, in light of this, propose recommendations for prevent or regulate abandonment in the fragile and vulnerable population. In this study, the mixed research methodology was used since through this methodology it relates elements of quantitative and qualitative research, which has made it possible to clearly and precisely verify family abandonment and self-esteem in older adults. It was considered to use a population of older adults from the Juan Ignacio Veintimilla parish and a sample of 80 elderly people was taken from a total population of 100 where the study focus is family abandonment and self-esteem.es_ES

dc.description.abstractEl abandono familiar es una situación en donde se evidencia la falta de apoyo emocional, social y económico del adulto mayor por parte de algún integrante de la familia, este factor puede manifestarse en la falta de atención, el aislamiento social o el descuido en cuanto a la salud. Por otro lado, la autoestima es una percepción personal y evaluativa que se tiene uno mismo, en sus creencias sobre sus capacidades y en la confianza en sus decisiones y acciones. El presente estudio de investigación mixto trata sobre el abandono familiar y la autoestima de adultos mayores de la parroquia Juan Ignacio Veintimilla del Cantón Guaranda, Provincia Bolívar. El objetivo de esta investigación es establecer la afectación del abandono familiar en la autoestima de los adultos mayores, con el fin de comprender como el abandono familiar puede contribuir a la alta o baja autoestima de las personas de tercera edad y ante ello, proponer recomendaciones para prevenir o regular el abandono en la población frágil y vulnerable. En este estudio, se utilizó la metodología de investigación de carácter mixto ya que mediante esta metodología relaciona elementos de la investigación cuantitativa y cualitativa, el cual ha permitido verificar de manera clara y precisa el abandono familiar y la autoestima en adultos mayores. Se considero utilizar una población de los adultos mayores de la parroquia Juan Ignacio Veintimilla y se tomó una muestra de 80 personas de la tercera edad de una población total de 100 donde el enfoque de estudio es abandono familiar y autoestima.es_ES
