Resilience is the ability of individuals to overcome difficult circumstances and deal successfully with changes. On the other hand, family abandonment highlights the situation in which older people feel neglected or partially or completely abandoned by their family members, which can have detrimental effects on their physical and mental health. This mixed research study focuses on Resilience and Family Abandonment in Older Adults at the Gerontological Center of Babahoyo in the Province of Los Ríos. The objective of this research is to establish how resilience influences older adults at the gerontological center in the Babahoyo canton due to family abandonment, in order to understand how resilience can contribute to positive or negative adaptation to this situation and propose recommendations to prevent and/or mitigate abandonment in this vulnerable population. In this study, a mixed-method research methodology was used, combining elements of quantitative and qualitative research, which could be useful in obtaining a more comprehensive and rigorous understanding of the phenomenon of family abandonment in older adults and resilience. The study population consisted of older adults from the Gerontological Center in the Babahoyo canton, and a sample of 70 older adults was taken from a total population of 100. The focus of the study was on family abandonment and resilience. To achieve the research purpose, bibliographic sources related to the variables addressed were used, and as data collection instruments, structured interviews were conducted to provide direct information, psychological measures such as the Resilience Scale ER-14 were used to measure the resilience capacity of older adults, and the sociodemographic record was used to gather information about the research problem.es_ES
