| dc.description | The present case study was carried out on an adult over 77 years of age who resides in the canton with the objective of establishing the incidence of family abandonment in depression in the elderly. The symptoms observed include a significant loss of concentration, persistent sadness and a series. of somatic problems, such as increased sleep and decreased appetite. Through diagnostic evaluations, a diagnosis of major depressive disorder was reached according to DSM-5 criteria. To carry out this complex clinical picture, a comprehensive therapeutic approach was implemented focused on modifying negative thinking patterns, with the goal of improving both mental and physical health. Given the patient's circumstances, who lack close family members, recommendations are given for distant family members who may be involved, in addition to seeking community support. In addition, the technical sheet was used as a tool to systematically organize and document the relevant data of the case, thus illustrating the incidence of family abandonment in depression in the context of an older adult. | es_ES |

| dc.description.abstract | El presente estudio de caso se realizó a un adulto mayor de 77 años que reside en el cantón con el objetivo de establecer la incidencia del abandono familiar en la depresión del adulto mayor Los síntomas observados incluyen una pérdida significativa de concentración, persistente tristeza y una serie de problemas somáticos, como aumento de sueño y disminución del apetito. A través de evaluaciones diagnósticas, se llegó al diagnóstico de trastorno depresivo mayor según los criterios del DSM-5. Para llevar a cabo este complejo cuadro clínico, se implementó un enfoque terapéutico integral centrado en modificar los patrones de pensamiento negativo, con la meta de mejorar tanto su salud mental como física. Dadas las circunstancias del paciente, que carece de familiares cercanos, se da recomendaciones para familiares lejanos quienes pueden involucrarse, además de la búsqueda de apoyo comunitario. Además, se utilizó la ficha técnica como herramienta para organizar y documentar sistemáticamente los datos relevantes del caso, ilustrando así la incidencia del abandono familiar en la depresión en el contexto de un adulto mayor. | es_ES |
