Producción y comercialización de malanga (Colocasia esculenta) en el Ecuador

dc.description | This document addressed the issue of production and marketing of taro (Colocasia esculenta) in Ecuador, being a tuber native to tropical countries that is grown in the country and whose production has been increasing in recent years, of which 70 % is exported worldwide and 30% is consumed domestically. To prepare this document, information was collected from updated bibliographic sources, academic research, research articles, virtual libraries and relevant websites. This variety of sources contributed to the formulation of perspectives and concepts presented by the authors, thus enriching the research. The results obtained on the marketing of taro in Ecuador have shown significant growth in Ecuador, generating opportunities for several public and private companies, specialized in the production and marketing of this tuber. However, it is important to note that farmers and consumers often do not have complete information about this product and its market. It is concluded that the production areas of this crop in Ecuador and provide updated information on the distribution chain of this product, contributing to quality aspects. For export, also post-harvest handling practices and national and international trading partners, and their prices in said markets. | es_ES |

dc.description.abstract | El presente documento abordó el tema de producción y comercialización de malanga (Colocasia esculenta) en el Ecuador, siendo un tubérculo originario de países tropicales que se cultiva en el país y que en los últimos años ha venido aumentado su producción, de lo cual el 70% se exporta a nivel mundial y el 30% se consume a nivel nacional. Para la elaboración del presente documento se recopilo información de fuentes bibliográfica actualizadas indagaciones académicas, artículos de investigación, bibliotecas virtuales y sitios web relevantes. Esta variedad de fuentes contribuyó a la formulación de perspectivas y conceptos presentados por los autores, enriqueciendo así la investigación. Los resultados obtenidos sobre la comercialización de malanga en el Ecuador se han manifestado un crecido significativo en el Ecuador, generando oportunidades para varias empresas públicas y privadas, especializadas en la producción y comercialización de este tubérculo. Sin embargo, es importante señalar que los agricultores y consumidores a menudo no cuentan con información completa sobre este producto y su mercado. Se concluye que las zonas de producción de este cultivo en el Ecuador y brindar información actualizada sobre la cadena de distribución de este producto, contribuyendo aspectos de calidad.
