| dc.description | This research analyzes the risks faced by journalists in conflict zones and how this can affect press freedom and democracy, through the case of Gerardo Delgado's murder in Ecuador in 2022. The specific objectives were to identify the risks faced by journalists in conflict zones, analyze the causes and consequences of Delgado's murder, and evaluate measures to reduce risks to journalists and safeguard press freedom in these areas. The results of the research show that journalists working in conflict zones face serious risks, including physical violence, threats, and harassment, which can limit their ability to report with freedom and objectivity. Furthermore, violence against journalists in these areas not only affects them but also society as a whole, compromising democracy. It is concluded that measures must be taken to reduce risks to journalists in conflict zones, including physical and legal protection, training, and financial support. Additionally, measures must be implemented to ensure press freedom in these areas, such as promoting transparency and access to information, regulating the media, and providing legal protection for journalistic work. | es_ES |

| dc.description.abstract | Esta investigación analiza el riesgo que enfrentan los periodistas en zonas de conflicto y cómo esto puede afectar la libertad de prensa y la democracia, a través del caso del asesinato de Gerardo Delgado en Ecuador en 2022. Los objetivos específicos fueron identificar los riesgos que enfrentan los periodistas en zonas de conflicto, analizar las causas y consecuencias del asesinato de Delgado y evaluar medidas para reducir los riesgos a los periodistas y perennizar la libertad de prensa en estas áreas. Los resultados de la investigación muestran que los periodistas que trabajan en zonas de conflicto enfrentan graves riesgos, incluyendo la violencia física, las amenazas y el hostigamiento, que pueden limitar su capacidad para informar con libertad y objetividad. Además, la violencia contra los periodistas en estas áreas no solo afecta a ellos, sino también a la sociedad en su conjunto y compromete la democracia. Se concluye que es necesario tomar medidas para reducir los riesgos a los periodistas en zonas de conflicto, incluyendo la protección física y legal, la capacitación y el apoyo financiero. Además, se deben implementar medidas para garantizar la libertad de prensa en estas áreas, como la promoción de la transparencia y el acceso a la información, la regulación de los medios de comunicación y la protección legal a la labor periodística. | es_ES |
