This document deals with the effects of compost application on janeiro grass (Eriochloa polystachya Kunth) in Ecuador, whose conclusions determine that forage production and its agronomic quality characteristics are not affected by the type of chemical fertilizer applied. , but organic fertilizers such as compost must be provided, to meet the nutritional requirements of pasture plantations, the stem-leaf ratio and the production of leaves, which is the most nutritious part of the plant that is used to feed livestock, it has not been affected by the use of organic fertilizers such as compost, showing the reduction of production costs and the better quality of forage and milk; The compost has organic matter, the same that provides benefits on the properties of the soil, favoring the growth and development of plants, as well as the reduction of bulk density, improves its structure, increases aeration and water retention and also no studies or investigations are reported that show in the field the use of compost in janeiro grass in Ecuador. Therefore, it is recommended to use diversified inputs of plant origin for the preparation of the compost, in order to obtain good quality pastures and carry out field research, to obtain results that allow the identification of the dose, interval and time of application of the compost in the crop of janeiro grass.es_ES
