Gestational diabetes is one of the most common metabolic disorders, defined as any type of intolerance to carbohydrates diagnosed during pregnancy. Glycemia affects pregnancy, which reduces the complications of the mother and child binomial in the short or long term, requires a rapid obstetric diagnosis to evaluate the condition and give the appropriate treatment to avoid excessive growth of the product. This work is based on a clinical case study of a patient with a clinical picture of gestational diabetes who is 30 years old and is in her 30th week of pregnancy. She goes to the Health Center, where she reports that her feet are swollen, she wants to eating too many times a day, makes you very thirsty, gets up to urinate several times at night, has a headache and feels tired. After diagnosis of gestational diabetes, close perinatal follow-up should be performed, as its goal is to prevent or reduce maternal and fetal morbidity and associated mortality. For this task, nursing care together with medical treatment is essential since it requires constant monitoring of the patient's evolution to finally achieve standards of management and prevention of short- and long-term metabolic consequences for both the mother and the child.es_ES
