| dc.description | The present investigation focused on studying data journalism as a new form of journalistic narration, due to the current panorama of the media worldwide, having a new configuration given by the generalization of the Internet and its influence as the main source of information for the work of journalists. In this context and with the implementation of new information technologies, a new discipline such as data journalism has emerged. The research had a qualitative, descriptive and diagnostic design, inductive and deductive methods were applied; the techniques used were the interview and the survey applied to three journalists from the city of Babahoyo. The research findings reflected that social communicators faced challenges by not knowing the different technological tools, such as presentation techniques, data design and volume management for their content. In addition to other factors that prevent them from offering users accurate and understandable information. It is concluded that data journalism in Ecuador is still developing; the results evidenced in the province of Los Ríos reflect that few journalists have the professional profile to work with this type of journalism. | es_ES |

| dc.description.abstract | La presente investigación se centró en estudiar el periodismo de datos como nueva forma de narración periodística, debido al actual panorama de los medios de comunicación a nivel mundial al tener una nueva configuración dada por la generalización de Internet y su influencia como principal fuente de información para el trabajo de los periodistas. En este contexto y con la implementación de nuevas tecnologías de la información, ha surgido una nueva disciplina como lo es el periodismo de datos. La investigación tuvo un diseño cualitativo, de tipo descriptiva y diagnostica, se aplicaron los métodos inductivos y deductivos; las técnicas empleadas fueron la entrevista y la encuesta aplicada a tres periodistas de la ciudad de Babahoyo. Los hallazgos de la investigación reflejaron que los comunicadores sociales enfrentan desafíos al no conocer de las diferentes herramientas tecnológicas, como son técnicas de presentación, diseño de datos y manejo de volumen para su contenido. Además de otros factores que les impide ofrecer a los usuarios una información veraz y comprensible. Se concluye, que el periodismo de datos en el Ecuador aún está desarrollándose; los resultados evidenciados en la provincia de Los Ríos reflejan que son pocos los periodistas que cuentan con el perfil profesional para trabajar con este tipo de periodismo. | es_ES |
