The seed is the main element to start an agricultural production, it promotes the formation of plants with a high genetic potential, whose purpose is to produce more fruits in less space. Hybrid seeds are the result of crossing two different plant varieties of the same species. Hybrids help increase productivity, crop quality and provide a higher yield to the farmer. The use of technologies together with high-yield hybrids have helped to increase productivity and reduce losses due to pests in several countries and in Ecuador, in the same way they have helped to increase productivity and reduce corn imports. , thus generating a great contribution to the country. The information was developed according to the research compiled from scientific articles, texts, magazines, presentations, congresses and virtual pages. All this information was subsequently submitted to the analysis and summary technique where everything related to the subject of study was discussed. dc.description.abstractEl presente documento se desarrolló con la finalidad de plantear la idea de la producción comercial de semillas híbridas del cultivo de maíz (Zea mays), para mejorar la producción de los cultivos de nuestros productores evitando la compra de semillas hibridas internacionales debido a su alto costo. La semilla es el elemento principal para dar inicio a una producción agrícola; la misma promueve la formación de plantas con un alto potencial genético, cuya finalidad es producir más frutos en menor espacio. Las semillas híbridas son el resultado del cruzamiento de dos variedades diferentes, plantas de la misma especie. Los híbridos ayudan a aumentar la productividad, la calidad de las cosechas y brindan un mayor rendimiento al agricultor. El uso de tecnologías junto con los híbridos de alto rendimiento, han ayudado a incrementar la productividad y disminuir perdidas por efecto de las plagas y otros factores, en varios países y en el Ecuador; de la misma manera han ayudado a incrementar la productividad y a disminuir las importaciones del maíz, generando así, un gran ahorro económico para el país. La información se desarrolló de acuerdo a las investigaciones recopiladas de artículos científicos, textos, revistas, ponencias, congresos y páginas virtuales. Toda esta información posteriormente fue sometida a la técnica de análisis y resumen donde se trató todo lo referente al tema de estudio. El uso de semillas hibridas nacionales podría garantizarnos una mayor producción en el cultivo de maíz duro, además que, a pesar de que la gran mayoría de las semillas hibridas presentes en el país sean importadas, y no estén totalmente adaptadas a las condiciones climatológicas de nuestro país, ofrecen también un gran beneficio productivo en nuestras plantaciones, y gracias a ello, el aumento de la producción del cultivo de maíz duro ha sido evidente en los últimos años.es_ES
