| dc.description | Pneumonia is a respiratory disease characterized by inflammation of alveolar sacs, it happens when a pathogenic microorganism (fungi, virus, or bacteria) reaches the lower respiratory tract. This disease is more prevalent in pediatric patients under 2 years old and in adult patients over 65 years old. The clinical characteristics of this pathology is dyspnea accompanied by fever, cough with expectoration, and crackling rales at the auscultation. The diagnosis of this pathology is made through the clinical picture presented by the patient, laboratory tests, etc., but this is confirmed by a chest X-ray, the chest X-ray is the gold standard in the diagnosis of pneumonia of any type. Treatment is initially empirical, but when the causative organism is isolated, a targeted treatment is initiated. The objective of this clinical case is to choose the appropriate treatment, as well as to prevent and identify risk factors for community-acquired pneumonia. The bibliographic research of scientific articles and works reviewed, as well as clinical guidelines were essential to obtain certified information. | dc.description.abstract | La neumonía es una enfermedad respiratoria que se caracteriza por la inflamación de los sacos alveolares, se da cuando un microorganismo patógeno (hongos, virus o bacterias) alcanzan el tracto respiratorio inferior. Esta enfermedad tiene mayor prevalencia en pacientes pediátricos menores de dos años y en pacientes adultos mayores de sesenta y cinco años. El cuadro clínico característico de esta patología es la disnea que se acompaña de fiebre, tos con expectoración y estertores crepitantes al momento de la auscultación. El diagnóstico de esta patología se realiza mediante el cuadro clínico que presenta el paciente, exámenes de laboratorio, etc., pero el diagnóstico de esta se confirma por medio de una radiografía de tórax, que es la prueba de oro en el diagnóstico de la neumonía de cualquier tipo. El tratamiento inicialmente es empírico, pero cuando se aísla al microorganismo causante se inicia un tratamiento dirigido. El presente caso clínico tiene por objetivo elegir el tratamiento adecuado, así como prevenir e identificar los factores de riesgo para la neumonía adquirida en la comunidad. La investigación bibliográfica de artículos científicos y trabajos revisados, así como también guías clínicas fue fundamental para obtener información certificada. La metodología utilizada fue descriptiva y cualitativa. | es_ES |
